Appearance: 5'6 high, athletically built, left handed. His speech is clipped and lacking in articles while his voice is dully monotoned. His costume is composed of a brown fedora hat, a purple pinstripe suit and pants, purple gloves, a white scarf around his neck, and an old bloodstained buttoned up trenchcoat with missing buttons. The most striking feature of Rorschach's costume is that which he considers his true face: a double-layered latex mask dotted with splotches of black and white that change pattern in response to heat and pressure. Said patterns eerily tend to reflect the mood Rorschach is in.

With the mask peeled away Walter Joseph Kovacs is a fascinatingly ugly man with curly red hair, unblinking brown eyes, and a mostly expressionless freckled visage. One would never guess a guy like that to be the terror of the underworld.

Personality: 'Alienated' and 'intense' are the perfect words to describe Kovacs. The abused lifestyle he suffered as a boy and the violent one he led as a man have made him sullen and withdrawn, seemingly caring nothing about the opinions of others as long as they do not involve him. He quietly disdains humanity for its darkness and self-destructive nature yet remains steadfast in his defense of it. He is a moral absolutionist who believes there is only good and evil, nothing in between, and evil must be violently punished. To that end he brings a savagery to his mission that matches that of the evil he fights and is more than willing to use lethal force to dish out justice. He is also not above using fear and torture on the criminal element to get what he wants.

Despite those, Rorschach does appreciate friendship and is surprisingly loyal to those saintly enough to put up with him. And above all he's still a man of integrity dedicated to doing what is generally the right thing, no matter how extreme his methods in carrying that out might be.

On the quirkier side of things, he often breaks into the homes of people he intends to visit and helps himself to their food while waiting. He is uncomfortable around women, their distinct belongings, and all sexual imagery due to his mother's cruelty to him as a child.

Abilities/Strengths: A good example of the non-powered hero. Rorschach's 21 years of crimefighting have left him highly developed in both the physical and mental realms. His skills in boxing, gymnastics, and unorthodox combat tempered by plenty of hands-on make him a good and unpredictable fighter. His proficiency in investigation and data gathering makes him an above average street level detective. Not the best but certainly capable.

Weaknesses: As said above Rorschach's sullen and off-putting behavior makes it hard for others to interact with, much less befriend, him. Though his paranoia may be seen as a strength it may also unneccessarily bog down proceedings when there is really nothing to be wary about. And if neglect of personal hygiene counts for a weakness then he scores high on that, choosing to spray himself with cologne rather than bathe.

Notable Possessions: A bottle of cologne and a pack of sugar cubes that he regularly chews on for energy. Also a gas-powered grappling gun given to him by the second Nite Owl, but this was lost when the police captured him.
